Reading the riverbank — an immersive geostory

This long-form story combines editorial text, full-screen terrain media, scroll-driven map scenes, data graphics, and direct access to the evidence. It follows a real test area from a 1 m elevation model and 52 water features to a transparent 50 m test parameter and selective terrain-triggered extensions.

What changes in the immersive version

  • the narrative moves through six distinct map states as the reader scrolls;
  • full-width terrain media, editorial layouts, metrics, and a data graphic break up the map sequence;
  • map identification, keyboard control, zoom, pan, direct downloads, and the English/Ukrainian switch remain available;
  • both presentations reuse the same published GeoJSON and terrain assets.

Compact analytical viewer

The original version remains available as a denser map-first view. It is useful when the main task is checking layers and values rather than reading the full editorial narrative.

Synthetic planning zones

This dependency-free local story keeps the maps interface available from the nettop even before Docker/GeoLibre is installed. It uses the same versioned dataset as the pilot article and SEA workspace.

Note

When Docker is installed, scripts/start-geolibre.sh starts the official GeoLibre image on port 8080. Stop the fallback maps preview first with make stop, then start GeoLibre.
